As the Vice President of Preconstruction, Eldon is responsible for directing all preconstruction and estimating activities for the Seattle office. He brings nearly 20 years of experience providing guidance and creative solutions to clients, partners, and project teams during project planning and in solving complex preconstruction challenges.

Bryan Kelley

As the Senior Vice President of Legal, Bryan is responsible for providing counsel, business operations support, and managing transactions, compliance, and general risk for the Washington and Oregon markets. A four-time "Rising Star" according to Washington Law & Politics Magazine, Bryan also received the AGC of Washington Associate of the Year Award in 2014.

Tim Berry

Tim Berry started his career with Balfour Beatty in 1991 as a concrete superintendent and has worked in the construction industry for over three decades. As vice president, Tim is responsible for overseeing projects and client relationships in the K-12 and federal market sectors, as well as pursuing new business opportunities.

Sean Hulen

Sean Hulen brings more than 30 years of industry experience to his role as Vice President. Sean has provided leadership and oversight to many unique and signature projects including LEGOLAND in California and in Germany, Etnnies Lake Forest Skate Park, the Student Union at California State University, Los Angeles, and Canyon Crest High School in Carlsbad, California. Sean is also LEED AP BD+C certified.

Katie Wade

As HR Vice President for Balfour Beatty in California, Katie is responsible for a wide range of human resource processes and programs including strategic oversight of department initiatives around hiring, retention, employee engagement and development, as well as ensuring effective communication of policies and procedures.

Michelle joined Balfour Beatty in 2003 and has since held positions with increasing responsibility. With nearly three decades of experience, her success can be seen throughout Southern California where she focuses on the K-12 market. Michelle is a strong leader within our business, a trusted advisor to her clients, an inspirational colleague to her teams, and someone who inspires others to be their best.

Anton Greenville

Anton Greenville brings over three decades of experience to his role as senior vice president. He is charged with overseeing projects in the higher education market, building and managing high-performance teams, overseeing design on design-build projects, and developing talent for the next generation of industry professionals. Anton is also CCM, DBIA, LEED AP and BD+C certified.

He holds a B.S. in Construction Management from California State University-Fresno and is a LEED Accredited Professional in Building Design and Construction.

Mary Gadson

Mary brings more than 32 years of experience to her role as a senior staff accountant in Sacramento. She has experience working on the delivery of successful, high-profile projects, and excels at developing strong relationships and working collaboratively with teammates and clients. Mary holds a B.A. in Psychological Service from the University of San Francisco.

Erica Frandsen

Erica brings more than 10 years of experience in the construction industry to her role as Marketing Director in Sacramento. Erica develops and executes competitive proposals that deliver vital infrastructure throughout California communities. She also has a passion for professionally developing her teammates. Erica graduated from Colorado State University-Pueblo with a B.A. in Mass Communications and is a LEED Green Associate.

Kyle Frandsen

Kyle Frandsen serves as Vice President of Sacramento. A Relentless Ally since 2013, Kyle is a bold leader in his commitment to sustainability. In addition to a master’s degree in sustainable construction management from the University of Florida, Kyle holds LEED AP BD+C certification, is certified in Lean Construction by the AGC, and is a Six Sigma Yellow Belt.

Jay McQuarie

Jay brings over 15 years of experience to his role as vice president. Wearing many hats, he provides oversight to project teams and plays an integral role in estimating, preconstruction, business development, and marketing for projects in Arizona. Jay graduated from Northern Arizona University with a B.S. in finance and business administration.

John Baradin

John Baradin is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) bringing more than 20 years of experience to his role. He is a U.S. Veteran and has worked in various industries including petrochemical, medical, aviation, and construction on projects with a cumulative value of over $1 billion. His oversight includes projects located throughout California and Arizona.

Al Calvet

Al Calvet brings more than 30 years of experience to his role, focusing on K-12 and higher education clients. Al’s expertise as a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) and Design-Build Professional (DBIA) ensures lean construction behaviors, highly collaborative environments, and the most innovative tools and integrated processes are embedded into his projects.

Gil Fullen

Gil has focused most of his career building public and educational facilities over the past three decades. Gil has successfully managed multiple large multi-million-dollar school district bond programs and projects. Gil currently focuses his attention on the public and education market sectors across California. Gil is committed to developing client partnerships and is a frequent expert speaker at various industry events.

Pat Dean

Senior Vice President, National Operations

Pat Dean never imagined spending his summers framing houses as a Kansas State University student would jumpstart a career in building for Fortune 100 companies and leading teams in the delivery of industry-leading projects across the U.S.

Fast forward to today, Pat serves as senior vice president of national operations where he oversees all operations for Balfour Beatty’s Buildings business and works with teams and industry partners in providing exceptional service and operational excellence on projects such as Los Angeles International Airport’s Automated People Mover.

Since joining the company in 2006, Pat has held roles of vice president and business unit leader of the Southeast and, subsequently, president of the Southeast providing strong operational and strategic leadership. He was integral in the Southeast business’ significant growth in both the private and public sectors and becoming the largest general contractor in North Carolina and the third largest in South Carolina.

With an entrepreneurial spirit, Pat is a leader guided towards achieving sustainable business growth while fostering the talent of next-generation leaders. It is this focus on investing in others that led Pat—the son of two lifelong educators—to serve on the Charlotte board of Teach for America, an organization Balfour Beatty supports through hands-on training and mentorship opportunities.

Pat has also dedicated his time and talents as a board member for the American Heart Association, Discovery Place and the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.

John Bernardy, CCM

John Bernardy brings three decades of experience to his position in which he is responsible for Orange County, Los Angeles, and Ventura operations and business development. John’s expertise in the K-12 and higher education markets has been instrumental in the successful completion of hundreds of school projects throughout the region.

Emily Kay

President, California

Relentless Ally since 2014

Emily Kay has been with Balfour Beatty for 10 years and has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry. She started her career in the trenches on jobsites as a formwork carpenter in Nebraska before becoming a field engineer and prior to joining Balfour Beatty she was a senior construction administrator for more than 10 years.

Emily has held various operations positions at Balfour Beatty where she leads teams in providing operational excellence through deliveries of county facilities, and K-12 additions, summer modernizations and new construction projects for the Torrance, Culver City, El Segundo, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach communities. She also spearheaded the expansion of Balfour Beatty’s special projects operations in the Los Angeles area where the company provides services for a wide variety of market sectors.

Her passion for construction and the success of the company spreads beyond the jobsite where she has been involved in several company initiatives including co-managing Balfour Beatty’s cultural framework and being actively involved in the Connecting Women employee affinity group. Emily has also been recognized by Los Angeles Business Journal as one of the top Outstanding Women in Design and Construction.

In May 2024, Emily was appointed President in California. She will work in a transitional role with the current President until the end of 2024 and assumes her new role and responsibilities as President in California effective January 1, 2025.

Emily is a graduate of the University of Nebraska and holds a bachelor’s degree in construction management with an emphasis on business management.
