Balfour Beatty Announces new Employee Affinity Group for Veterans
In recognition of Veterans Day, Balfour Beatty announces the launch of a new employee affinity group in support of employee veterans, reservists, military members and allies.
The formation of BRAVE (Buildings Relentless Alliances for Veteran Employees) marks a significant step forward in the company’s commitment to supporting military veterans and their families in the construction industry.
To celebrate the launch of the new affinity group, employees from across the business gathered to honor veterans and learn more about BRAVE. A panel of forming members discussed the impact the new group will have within the company.
“As a retired Army soldier, this commitment to foster connections for employees with shared experiences is admirable,” vice president, project management and BRAVE national lead Ty McPhillips said. “When I started my career, I never imagined I would serve more than twenty years in uniform and now as I approach eighteen years with Balfour Beatty, I am equally amazed with energetic commitment to making BRAVE a success.”
BRAVE is the sixth employee affinity group to form at the company, including Building PRIDE, Connecting Women, NOBLE, REGAL and Somos. The addition reflects Balfour Beatty’s dedication to its People-first Culture by providing spaces for employees to be authentic while recognizing the unique perspectives and valuable skills that each employee brings.
“The launch of BRAVE represents a significant milestone in our journey to create authentic spaces where every employee can thrive,” California vice president and National DE&I Committee chair Michelle Reiner said. “This network represents not just out gratitude for the service of our employee veterans and active military members, but our investment in their continued success in the construction industry.”
