Howard S. Wright Completes Alaska Airlines’ New World-Class Training Facility
February 23, 2026
SEATTLE – Howard S. Wright, a Balfour Beatty company, announces the completion of Alaska Airlines’ new Global Training Center located at the Longacres campus in Renton, Washington. This milestone marks a major investment in the airline’s future, supporting its growing workforce and commitment to operational excellence.
In partnership with Alaska Airlines, Seneca Group and design partner NBBJ, Howard S. Wright led the renovation of the 660,000-square-foot facility which is designed to centralize the airline’s operations and world-class training programs for tens of thousands of employees annually, including flight attendants, pilots, customer service agents and ramp service employees.
The state-of-the-art space features advanced flight simulators, mock aircraft cabins and immersive classrooms that reflect Alaska Airlines’ dedication to safety, service and innovation. The project team also implemented lean construction practices and sustainable design strategies, including energy-efficient systems and flexible infrastructure to accommodate future technology upgrades. The facility also includes collaborative spaces that foster team-building and cross-functional learning.
“This facility represents a significant step forward in Alaska Airlines’ mission to empower its people and elevate the travel experience,” said Troy Dickson, Balfour Beatty president in the Northwest. “Delivering this facility is a testament to our long-standing partnership with Alaska Airlines and our partners and our shared commitment to excellence. We’re proud to have served as general contractor to construct this sustainable, high-performance environment that supports their long-term growth and training needs.”
Howard S. Wright leveraged its deep relationships with Alaska Airlines, Seneca Group, and NBBJ throughout the project. The team has previously delivered a range of projects for the airline at multiple of its existing corporate facilities, including its existing Flight Training Center. Most recently, Howard S. Wright completed ‘The Hub’, Alaska Airlines’ Class A office space in SeaTac that accommodates approximately 600 employees and houses its 24/7 operations facility and other key functions.
Renovations for the training facility commenced in Summer 2024 and substantial completion was achieved in September 2025. This monumental project milestone reinforces the company’s leadership in aviation construction and its commitment to delivering impactful spaces that serve both clients and communities.
