CHARLOTTE, N.C. — – Balfour Beatty announces the promotion of Mike Wehner to vice president of operations in the Carolinas. Previously operations director, Mike now oversees operations and business development across the Carolinas special projects group where he leads teams in implementing the geography's client-focused operational model which continues Balfour Beatty's mission to deliver streamlined and exceptional service and quality to owners and partners.

Mike joined Balfour Beatty in 2011, bringing extensive experience in retail and corporate interiors construction. Over his tenure with the company, he has been instrumental in managing a diverse portfolio in the Carolinas that spans retail establishments, corporate headquarters, healthcare facilities and entertainment complexes. Additionally, Mike’s leadership has been instrumental in diversifying the Carolinas project portfolio from majority office upfits to executing operations to deliver industrial labs, mission critical work and mid-size, ground-up building construction in the area. 

Through Mike's extensive expertise and strong ability to forge trusted relationships with clients and industry partners, he has led project teammates to successful completions of a multitude of projects across various market sectors. These projects include Compass Group's Global Headquarters renovation, which earned a first place  Eagle Award at the 2014 Associated Builders & Contractors Excellence in Construction competition, as well as projects for TIAA-CREF, First Citizens Bank, Wells Fargo, Citi Bank, Vanguard, Suffolk Punch Brewery, PetSuites, Trane Technologies and Clariant.
