Each year, FORTUNE magazine partners with the Great Place to Work Institute to select the “100 Best Companies To Work For” in the U.S., conducting “the most extensive employee survey in corporate America.” Balfour Beatty Construction is honored to have been selected for the distinction for 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013.

There are two parts to the selection process. The Institute’s Trust Index survey asks a random sample of employees from each company questions related to their attitudes about the management's credibility, job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The results count for two thirds of a company’s score.

The other third of the scoring is based on the company's responses to the Institute's Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and benefit programs and a series of broad essay questions about the company’s business environment, hiring and onboarding methodologies, communications practices, development and motivation of employees, and involvement in the community.

Any company that is at least five years old with more than 1,000 U.S. employees is eligible.

“Our business truly is all about people,” reflected Robert Van Cleave, Chairman and CEO. “Our goal is to create an enjoyable environment in which clients, partners, and employees can achieve success together. When our people look forward to coming to work each day, are passionate about what they do, care about each other’s safety, can call their coworkers and customers their friends, and can achieve outstanding results—that makes me proud of this company, and it truly makes Balfour Beatty Construction a great place to work.”
