Balfour Beatty’s Port of Long Beach Pier E and Pier G Terminal Container Yard projects represent $75 million in work as part of the larger $2 billion Middle Harbor project to upgrade wharfs, water access and storage areas and build a new on-dock rail yard.
The project, which required the team to repair the wharf deck and replace over two miles of aging rail tracks and ballast to increase the Port’s ability to move cargo from ships onto trains, was recently recognized by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Los Angeles Section as the Project of the Year in the Airports and Ports category.
