Our Austin office was a Lead Duck sponsor of the Fifth Annual Austin Duck Derby benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA). Inspiring youth to reach their full potential, the BGCAA is Austin’s leading youth development agency with 7,500 kids participating in high-impact development programs that result in better school attendance, better grades and higher graduation rates. A main goal of the program is to ensure that each child is college or career-ready with the skills needed to succeed in today’s globally competitive workforce. The derby began with the release of 13,350 eco-friendly adopted rubber ducks into Lady Bird Lake from the Ann Richards Bridge, racing towards the finish line, with all adoption fees benefiting BGCAA. The first ducks to cross the finish line won individual prizes for their adoptive parents. Several Balfour Beatty employees and their families had an up-close view of the duck derby races via kayaks, paddle boards, or the essential Duck Cruise Boat. Fun facts:
“We are proud to be an avid supporter of the annual Austin Duck Derby benefiting The Boys & Girls Club of the Austin Area. If there is one thing our teammates are more passionate about than building, it’s giving back to the Central Texas communities in which we live, work and serve,” shared Ed Prendergast, business unit leader of Balfour Beatty's Austin office. Lots of love and HUGE thank you to all of our clients, employees and design and trade partners for making this event a quacktastic success.
