    August 20, 2014

HOUSTON –  According to the Greater Houston Partnership, Houston is the U.S. energy headquarters and a world center for virtually every segment of the oil and gas industry including exploration, production, transmission, marketing, supply and technology. To meet the growing demand in this market, Balfour Beatty Construction is expanding its Houston Division to include a group focused solely on construction and renovation for the oil and gas industry: Energy and Technical Facilities.

Balfour Beatty Construction U.S. has constructed more than $350 million in laboratory and petrochemical facilities. To grow our presence in the Houston energy sector market, Marc Scott has been hired to lead the Energy and Technical Facilities team.

Scott’s credentials include over 35 years of design, construction and project management services. His knowledge base spans laboratory construction, blast-resistant control room construction, petro-chemical production, healthcare renovation and expansion work for clients such as University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Baker Hughes, Chevron and Halliburton. Scott is a past recipient of the Associated General Contractors of America - Houston “APEX Award for Excellence in Construction.”

“Marc will foster new business opportunities in the energy, oil and gas sectors and work closely with our clients to provide the same level of quality service that we offer nationwide,” stated Steve Mechler, division president for the Houston office.
