Balfour Beatty has been awarded the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Platform and Track Improvement project in San Francisco, California by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA). The transit project will be managed by Balfour Beatty’s Rail team in South San Francisco, CA.
The project involves the construction of a new UCSF Mission Bay Center Station platform, track alignment, overhead contact system (OCS) and associated signaling to accommodate current riders and the increased ridership to the new Golden State Warriors Arena in Mission Bay, which opens for the 2019/2020 NBA season. Balfour Beatty will be responsible for the demolition of the existing transit platforms and rail, construction of the new platform and track alignment, installation of trail detection and control systems, utility work, OCS, site work, testing, training and start-up. Construction begins in April 2018 and will be completed in April 2019.
Balfour Beatty has completed multiple contracts for the SFMTA, including the Bernal Substation Upgrade in 2013, Sunset Tunnel rehabilitation in 2017, 5 Fulton Project in 2018 and is continuing the 33 Ashbury Trolley Coach Pole and OCS Replacement which is due to wrap up in 2018.
