Howard S. Wright, a Balfour Beatty company, moving to new office location

    April 07, 2014

SEATTLE - Howard S. Wright, a Balfour Beatty company, will be moving to a new office in Lower Queen Anne this fall. The new home will be located in the Queen Anne Station building at 415 1st Ave North, and will foster an interactive work environment. Construction is expected to begin this summer with an early November, 2014 move-in.

The company is one of the largest construction companies in the Northwest and has built several landmark projects in Seattle, including the majority of buildings for the 1962 World’s Fair and the Space Needle – now a national landmark.

“We selected this new location, not only because it is an exciting and vibrant neighborhood, but also because of the area’s historical significance to our company,” said Dan Peyovich, division president for Howard S. Wright. “We are very focused on employee wellness and work-life balance. We were especially impressed with its central location because it offers the best amenities, it has easy access to mass transit, and it is very conducive for walking.”

Designed by Gensler, the new office will support a collaborative environment. “The space is designed with minimal visual obstructions and takes advantage of the panoramic views of Seattle and Elliot Bay,” said Jeroen Teeuw, senior associate with Gensler. “It will feature a large multi-functional hub that will allow for large gatherings as well as provide a means to open the office up to the community at large. Views from the hub will focus on locally built landmarks, celebrating Howard S. Wright’s Seattle legacy. The entire office space will strike a balance between, what leadership termed, ‘shiny shoes and dirty boots’. It will truly merge a beautiful showcase space with an integral balance and expression of raw construction.”

The company employs over 200 people, and has been located in South Lake Union for over 80 years. Brad Hettle, project manager, is overseeing the project.
