  November 14, 2011 One of Texas’ largest builders of K-12 facilities, Charter Builders, and interior construction, SpawMaxwell, will now begin operating under the Balfour Beatty Construction name.  This change comes as a natural next step for both businesses that have been a part of the Balfour Beatty family since 2006 and 2009, respectively. 

• Washington, D.C. Ronald McDonald House® Achieves LEED® Gold

  November 11, 2011 The new Ronald McDonald House in Washington, D.C., has been awarded LEED for Homes Gold certification by the Green Building Certification Institute (CBGI). LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is an internationally-recognized green building certification system established by the U.S. Green Building Council, which promotes sustainable building and practices. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington, D.C. is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the health and well being of children through their three core programs that include their new “green” Washington D.C. Ronald McDonald House.
  

• Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Formally Opens With Dedication Ceremony

  November 11, 2011 A dedication ceremony today marked the formal opening of the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). Created through the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Act of 2005, WRNMMC consolidated the services of Washington, D.C.’s Walter Reed Army Medical Center to the campus of the National Naval Medical Center (NNMC).

  November 07, 2011 Balfour Beatty Construction received two 2011 national Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) awards, one each for the Pentagon Memorial in Arlington, Virginia and The Mason Inn Conference Center and Hotel at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. The winners were announced at the Design-Build Conference and Expo in Orlando, Florida.
