Balfour Beatty Construction named finalist for American Business Ethics Award

November 18, 2009

At their annual awards gala, the Foundation for Financial Service Professionals announced the three recipients of this year’s 2009 American Business Ethics Awards – Midnight Janitorial (small company), High Performance Technologies, Inc. (midsize company), and Lockheed Martin (large company). However, differing from their typical presentation process, this year they followed up with a special “shout-out” to a fourth company, one that hadn’t received the 2009 award – First-runner up, Balfour Beatty Construction.

Founded in 1994, the ABEA recognizes companies that “exemplify high standards of ethical behavior in their everyday business conduct and/or in response to specific ethical crises or challenges.”

Being first runner up may not sound as impressive as receiving the actual award – but throughout the award’s history, the judges have only announced a runner-up three times – which means being first runner-up for this award is an impressive achievement indeed.

It all started with Balfour Beatty Construction’s nomination for the Greater Dallas Business Ethics Award, for which we were honored with a first place award, qualifying us to compete for the national ABEA award.

When considering BBC for the ABEA, the judging committee expressed strong admiration for our shared commitment across the entire company to community service, culture and vision, and employee engagement.

AllBalfour Beatty employeesshould be commended for their efforts in developing and sustaining an ethical business environment of which we all can be proud!
