Data drives niche for contractors

In an otherwise grim construction market, data centers are keeping some contractors, architects and engineers busy. The need to store information goes undiminished, even in the worst economy.
“It’s a pretty vibrant market for us and has been for about 10 years,” says Tim Garrison, president of the mission-critical facilities group for contractor R.T. Dooley, a Balfour Beatty Co. “Mission-critical work in general is less affected by the recession because you have to do it. Data centers keep the business moving.”
