Balfour Beatty raises barn at school for troubled youth

Balfour Beatty provided talent and treasure to The Crossnore School to build a barn and stables last fall so the school could introduce equine therapy to its residents. Founded in 1913, the Avery County school is a private, nonprofit children’s home and school for youth from all over the state who lack a suitable home. Their special needs are often beyond the ability of traditional public schools to meet, and Crossnore offers a therapeutic environment where they can heal and learn.
