Walt has led the planning or construction efforts for more than seven million square feet of hospital projects valued at more than $3 billion. His project experience spans a range of construction management, program management, design management, and medical equipment/transition planning services. A consistent theme throughout his career has been his ability to build high-performing teams and work collaboratively with all project team members, including owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and community leaders. Prior to his construction career, Walt served as a surface warfare and intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve. He holds a bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University's School of Engineering.
Walt began his career with the company in 1999 in the Nashville preconstruction group. In 2002, he launched a new healthcare business unit in Charlotte, covering Georgia and the Carolinas. In 2005, upon the merger of our North Texas and healthcare divisions, he relocated to Dallas and took on responsibilities for Balfour Concord and Balfour Resource Group. In 2011, he was named president of the newly formed Consultancy division. Additionally, Walt leads the National Healthcare Group, which supports each of Balfour Beatty Construction's division offices throughout the United States. Balfour Beatty is serving healthcare clients in 20 states and is consistently ranked as one of the top providers of construction, program management, and advisory services.
