Tim Garrison was born in Ft. Wayne, Ind., and has worked in the construction business since the age of 14, when he started by working for his father in a family-owned homebuilding business. In 1976 and 1977, he completed a vocational apprenticeship for carpentry and residential construction. He worked in the trades as a carpenter, superintendent and an independent subcontractor until 1983, when he enrolled in Purdue University’s Building Construction & Contracting Program. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree with honors in 1987 and moved to Charlotte, where he worked for McDevitt & Street Company, later McDevitt Street Bovis, and came to RT Dooley Construction in 1996. Serving as president of RT Dooley, he led the company through its acquisition by Balfour Beatty Construction Company, where he now serves as a senior vice president and leader of the Mission Critical Business Unit.
