Rich Rantala
Senior Vice President, Business Acquisition
Rich Rantala joined Balfour Beatty Construction in 1990 as Vice President of Business Development in Nashville, TN. In 1993, he moved to Dallas to implement a national healthcare sales strategy designed to combine the company's healthcare resources, and served in this role until 1996. He then accepted the position of President/CEO of North American Operations for a Norwegian-based construction firm. In November of 2000, he rejoined Balfour Beatty in Charlotte to help open in offices in Charlotte, Atlanta, and Raleigh as Senior Vice President for Marketing and Sales.
In 2008, Rich was appointed the Vice President of Business Enhancement Practices for Balfour Beatty Construction with a focus on and implementation of emerging construction trends. This included performance metrics, sustainability, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and safety. Today, Rich serves as Senior Vice President of Business Acquisition with a special emphasis on client development and "win" strategies. In addition, Rich provides oversight to the Carolinas, Georgia, Multifamily, and Military Housing marketing teams.
Many people associate Rich with Ohio State. But the fact is, he holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Ohio University. Come fall, though, it is all Buckeyes. Rich's greatest pride is his two daughters who are both chasing their lifelong dreams in Nashville. Caitlin, 22, is a promising author, and Lauren, 18, is a songwriter/singer currently studying at Belmont University.
