On July 16, 2009 a team of about a dozen Balfour Beatty Construction employees spent the afternoon cooking and cleaning for families in residence at the Ronald McDonald House in Ft. Lauderdale. Team members were Charles McMorris (event coordinator), Jon Hornung, Leon Laurion, Diane Leonardy, Lisa Morgan, Analucia Moyses, Todd Rogers, Mila Smith, Jamie Wray, and Kimberly Wright.
“It was such an eye-opening experience for all of us who volunteered. You could tell by the looks on everyone’s faces that we were all personally touched,” said Graphics Designer Kimberly Wright. “All of us plan to go back and volunteer again.”
There are 288 Ronald McDonald Houses around the world. They offer families with seriously ill or injured children a comfortable place to stay with private bedrooms and home cooked meals. This organization allows family members to stay together, close to the hospital, with at least basic needs supported during their stay.
Thanks to Pearson and Gail Raybould for helping make this year’s tournament a hole in one!
