Central Florida volunteers help Give Kids the World

August 22, 2009

Orlando

On August 22, 2009 a group of 16 employees volunteered to assist 144 families at the Give Kids the World (GKTW) Village in Kissimmee.

GKTW provides a place for families who have children with life-threatening illnesses to stay while attending local theme parks (at no cost to the families). Robin Davis organized the event and participated as a volunteer. Other volunteers were Nancy Barton, Mike Barton, Phil Davis, Sean DeMartino, Dee Frame, Michael Frame, Breann Macks, Cindy Garris, Tom MacCabe, Terra Roux, Todd Stewart, Ellen Stewart, Josh Taylor, Roslyn Henderson, and Timothy Tackett. At the Gingerbread House, volunteers served breakfast to the families staying at GKTW. A few volunteers assisted in other areas: face painting, makeup and paint tattoos for the kids at La-Ti-Da Beauty Spa; delivering “Breakfast on the Go” to the suites of those who couldn’t make it to the Gingerbread House; and giving train rides around the GKTW facility.

“I want to say thank you to all the volunteers that gave up their Saturday morning to come out and help. I hope you all were touched as much as Phil and I were and we look forward in doing it again in the near future,” said Robin.
