How to Write a Resume
An attractive resume can help you get shortlisted for the job you want.
Here are some other key points you should keep in mind before you start your resume:
- Always write your resume from scratch instead of copying or following someone else’s content or template.
- The first thing we look for in a resume are keywords provided by the technical manager such as program names, years of experience, education, etc.
- The reviewer usually takes less than 3–5 minutes to scan your resume, so make it concise.
- Your resume should never be longer than two pages. Don’t use small or tiny sized fonts.
- The first page should present your best qualities. In a resume, the most important information should be at the beginning, not the end.
- Your resume should be strictly professional, not overly decorative. Use formal fonts such as Verdana, Times New Roman, or Arial.
- Maintain proper alignment – don’t let your type zigzag.
- Include contact details – phone number and personal email are sufficient – after the name or in the header (top right corner) of the first page of your resume.
- First page: Include name, summary, skills, work experience, education.
- Second page: Reference projects, honors/achievements, personal information.
