Established in Miami in 1933 by Frank J. Rooney, the Florida Division of Balfour Beatty Construction is part of our company’s East Region operations team. The company has grown through the years to build some of the largest and most recognizable landmarks across the state, with particular strength in the Orlando and Fort Lauderdale markets.
Sean DeMartino serves as Division President and has spent his entire career learning from company teammates, establishing best practices within a learning environment, and helping create a unique culture that always puts relationships and People First. (In fact, our Florida team is a certified a People First® business.)
Our local projects have been awarded more than 40 Excellence in Construction awards from regional Associated Builders and Contractors groups. We’ve also received regional recognition for Excellence in Safety, Energy Star, ESGR Above and Beyond (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve), General Contractor of the Year, Partnership of the Year, and an award from the National Arbor Day Foundation.
Our company and our people embrace opportunities to help those in need, and to give back to the communities in which we work, live, and learn. Examples of active community partnerships and support include the United Way, Boys and Girls Clubs in Fort Lauderdale, a charity golf tournament benefitting the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, and pro-bono services to build Give Kids the World Village in Orlando, a place where seriously ill children and their families find a well-deserved escape and enjoy the theme parks of Disney.
