Balfour Beatty Construction

Service Nationwide

Across the nation, Balfour Beatty Spirit! teams participate in activities to improve the quality of life in their communities. In addition, Balfour Beatty Construction executives and employees serve on the boards of community agencies and charities throughout the nation. Helping our employees find the time and resources to give back to the organizations they support most. That’s the Balfour Beatty Construction way.

Here are just a few examples of our efforts:

  • Building or refurbishing more than 60 houses for elderly low–income residents of Dallas through the Hearts & Hammers program, a 17–year commitment
  • Donating construction services to build the "Castle of Miracles" and other facilities at Give Kids the World Village in Orlando pro bono, a place where seriously ill children and their families find a well–deserved escape and enjoy a week of fun at Disney theme parks
  • Organizing and sponsoring the Children’s Golf Classic for the past 12 consecutive years (one of the largest such events in Dallas), raising nearly $1.5 million for Children’s Medical Center of Dallas
  • Participating in Habitat for Humanity builds in multiple markets
  • Feeding the homeless through Hunger Busters in Dallas and S.O.M.E. (So Others May Eat) in the Washington, DC area
  • Building school playgrounds for disabled children in Charlotte, NC
  • Mentoring students through Vital Link in Fort Worth, Boys and Girls Clubs in Fort Lauderdale, and the ACE Mentor Program nationwide
  • Hosting a charity golf tournament benefitting Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt University in Nashville for five consecutive years
  • In October 2009, the Hollywood Memorial Regional Hospital project team organized a charity golf tournament and raised $25,000 for Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital
  • Donating construction services to build "Aikman’s End Zone" at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas
  • Through our Military Housing team in Atlanta, assembling care packages of food, supplies and reminders of home for our soldiers overseas

Last year, the Dallas Life Foundation, a shelter that treats the physical and spiritual needs of the homeless, sought bids to renovate their decades–neglected restrooms, but the lowest bid they received was $150,000--well above their $55,000 budget.

The need came to the attention of Balfour Beatty, and thanks to generous donations of time and materials by BBC employees and subcontractors, we were able to finish with $15,000 to spare.
